The happy things meme

Nobody tagged me for the 'things that are making me happy meme' but I'm going to do it anyway...

The things that made me happy today were:

We have -- hurrah -- hit that critical point in present buying where you suspend critical judgement and just get on and buy stuff. This generated four presents in one and a half hours, which is a sight better than the roughly four presents a month we've been managing up to now. We have now bought everything that absolutely must be posted before the last posting date, and I think with a reasonable degree of confidence that the things will all be delivered by Saturday.

I have moved offices, which I have mixed feelings about, but the new space has actual windows. It also means I join the Victoria line at Green Park or Victoria rather than Oxford Circus, which doubles the proportion of return journeys I will spend sitting down.

Crimbo card design is finished, and at least somewhat printed. I do not have enough coated inkjet card or envelopes. Must rectify this, but still.

I've been a very good girl this year.

So, I am dithering about the whole plastic music for Christmas question. I only have a Wii, not an XBox 360 or a PS3. And Rock Band for the Wii is stripped down compared to other platforms. But Guitar Hero has been less satisfying since the Harmonix people left; it feels more like a game and less like a simulation of music making. At its best, the original Guitar Hero made you feel that you, yes you, were playing the solo parts of "More than a Feeling". Etc.

Poll #1316120 Wii Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band

Should I ask Santa for Wii Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band?

GHWT has online play and your plastic guitars will work
Rock Band -- Harmonix grok music
Both; money and living room space are no object
Neither, wait for Rock Band 2
Really, you need to buy a PS3 and Rock Band; accept no substitutes

Ah'm as free as a bird now....

Spend 89p on a really good cause this Christmas

OK, chaps, this is one of them there Internet Meme things.

You may or may not know that a really awful version of the great Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah is about to be Christmas no. 1. Unless! If the MIGHTY POWA OF DA INTERWEBS rises up, and everyone, instead, buys the Jeff Buckley version, there's just the tiniest chance that we could displace it. Or, at the very least, get a ton of exposure for better music.

89p for lovely untrammelled 320kbs MP3 from 7-digital. Or 79p from iTunes but that has DRM.

Don't buy from Amazon, cos those downloads apparently don't count towards the UK charg.

Don't buy the Leonard Cohen version -- I know it's the original, but the meme is backing Jeff Buckley.

And you know, at 89p, it's a bargain.

There's also a Facebook Group.

Buy a few. And tell your friends.
